Ploy Git
Deploy without GitHub. Ploy hosts your repository; push to it with plain git and every push deploys.
Ploy Git
Ploy Git is a git repository hosted by Ploy. Push to it with any git client, from your laptop, a CI job, or an AI agent, and Ploy builds and deploys every push. You don't need a GitHub account.
Create a project from Ploy Git
- In the dashboard, click New Project and pick the Ploy Git tab.
- Enter a repository name and the production branch (default
main). - Click Create project, then Generate push URL.
- Add the remote and push:
git remote add ploy https://••••••@<your-ploy-git-host>/<org>/<repo>.git
git push -u ploy mainThe dashboard remembers which source you picked, so the next new project opens on the same tab.
During onboarding, choose Ploy Git under Where does your code live? to create your first repository without connecting GitHub.
Push URLs
A push URL is a normal git remote URL with a short-lived credential embedded in it.
- URLs are minted on demand and never stored by Ploy.
- Choose how long a URL stays valid: 1 hour, 24 hours, or 30 days.
- The dashboard hides the credential until you reveal it.
- Generate a new URL at any time from Settings → Source → Push URL. When a URL expires, update your remote with
git remote set-url ploy <new-url>.
A push URL can push to your repository. Treat it like a password and regenerate it if it leaks.
Owners, admins, and developers can create Ploy Git repositories and push URLs. Viewers cannot.
Push from the CLI
The CLI mints a fresh URL for each push, so nothing is written to your git config:
ploy push --project <project-id>Or configure a long-lived ploy remote:
ploy git remote --project <project-id> --ttl 30d --add
git push -u ploy mainAdd project: <project-id> to your ploy.yaml to drop the --project flag. See ploy git for every option.
Branches and deployments
- Pushes to the production branch deploy to production.
- Pushes to any other branch create a preview deployment with its own URL.
- Tags and branch deletions do not deploy.
- Change the production branch in Settings → Source → Default Branch.
A project created from an empty repository waits for the first push before it deploys.
Multiple projects
Several projects can deploy from one Ploy Git repository, for example one per ploy.yaml in a monorepo. When a push to the production branch adds a new ploy.yaml, the dashboard offers to create a project for it. See Monorepos.
Move between GitHub and Ploy Git
You can move an existing project from GitHub to Ploy Git, or back to GitHub, with its full history. See Move a project's source.
